New with a couple questions (outdoors)
    #4517265 - 08/10/05 08:40 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I just got a spawn bag of Cyanescens and it is late in the year. I didn't relize the bed should have been started in the spring. I need to do this outside. My thoughts are to start a smaller bed than suggested hopefully to keep the mycellium growing. Sound reasonable? Also, I border Zones 5 and 6, should I dig the bed up near the first frost and winter it in a safe cool; place or just mulch the heck out of it?
Thanks and Peace

If the spawn is ready, make a big bed now.
Do not dig it up, let it overwinter and you should probably mulch, straw, cover, insulate it from above before winter comes.

Are these Pan Cyan from ralphster the same thing? If so I was thinking about trying them inside because of the picture. I also want to try both these and the Azurescens outdoors someday.

NO. This post is on PSILOCYBE Cyanescens, a very different (cold, wood lover) species from Pan Cyans, a warm weather dung lover. Pan Cyans can be grown indoors, Ps Cyans cant, without a huge degree of difficulty anyway. Azures are very similar to Ps Cyans, outdoor, cold loving, wood lovers.

Get some cubensis grows under your belt before you waste your money on pan cyan spores, they take a little bit more work. Once you can grow cubies off WBS spawned to horse poo, then you can give them a shot with a pretty good chance of success.

I haven't tried WBS but my organic popcorn works awesome. I got HUGE amazonians. Oh yeah I live next to a horse farm!!! Do you think that the WBS is better?
