Hydroton/Geolite...
    #4516967 - 08/10/05 03:52 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

To anyone who has purchased this, how much $$$ did you pay for it?

(and how much did you get)

And what store did you find it at?

Thank you...

a 50lb bag was about $35 in Rockford Illinois several years ago, before you buy it
start calling around to concrete companies and ask if they carry LECA or Expanded
Clay Agregate, the company I used to work for paid about $160/ton delivered for
the stuff

So LECA or Expanded Clay Agregate (same thing right) is the same thing as geolite?

So the concrete company was $35 for a 50 lb. bag?

Or was that a store?

$35 for a 50lb bag was a hydroponics store, it was $160 a ton dropped of on site
for the concrete company a ton being 2000lbs, thats a huge savings... plus most
of the time if you need 10 gallons or so they'll just give it away, we did.

one of the manufacturing plants is near birmingham alabama, call there if you need to

I don't think that they (in AL) would want to ship to me in CA, that's part of the reason I don't want to order online is the shipping and handling becasause it's heavy...

I think at least lol..

So just cal some local concrete companies and ask if they have any spare LECA that they aren't using?

This will be used in a PMP so these are actual geolite rocks?

That are  in the circle shape?

I would look in your local yellow pages and find a hydroponics shop.

Hopefully you have one near by.
