Air circulation
    #4516022 - 08/09/05 11:26 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

I've got the typical setup, a large rubbermade, somewhat airtight, 2 inches of verm on the bottom, good humidity, the works. Out of 4 cakes 2 are about to simply explode, and the others are getting there (all first flush). There are days that I am at work for more than 12 hours, and with drive time, it can be up to 13 hours before I can fan the container. I have an aquarium air pump, with the little bubble stone thing on the bottom that is not in use right now. I'm worried that 13 hours is way too long, especially at this stange. Does anyone have input on this? Is there anyway I could rig something up to get the co2 out for me while I'm away? (I mentioned the pump b/c it's something that I have laying around and wouldn't have to spend $$ on. Would forcing air in there push out the co2?)

yes it would help with the air exchanges and ridding your tub of co2. the addition of some holes stuffed with polyfil would help as well.
run hose from the pump into a container of some kind with water. i use a 20 oz. soda bottle with some hole cut around the top with the air pump. seems good so far.
