true nature
    #4515338 - 08/09/05 08:02 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I was just watching sopranos on TV, and there was this episode where that fatt guy (the main character) is trying to convince some therapist woman to give him a chance, because he wants to be with her, so he says all the sweet things, like, he has a gentle side, and he can show it to her, and how he likes her because of all the "smart things" she says as well as here eyes, lips etc.

and then she says that she couldn't live with his violence.

and suddenly the guy pops, and yells : shut up, and runs outside, slams the door, and says something like "stupid cunt" or "fucking cunt"

Makes me kind a wonder how many nice women out there get tricked like that. It's a shame.

Agreed. It is a shame.

He seems like a pretty easy guy to see through.  If women fall for that crap, then they need the education they are about to get.

well the woman on TV should have known better, she is a therapist after all.

but there are some many less, how to put it, less aware and less smart women out there, who are good in heart, but are not smart enough not to fall for the alpha male. Alpha male is usually trouble by human standards, yet women fall for them

Really? Even if it is violence or even death? Nobody deserves to be beaten even if it makes them learn something. After the violence, she might even extract the wrong moral, like that she is guilty, or that all men are like that.

Now, that I think of it, it happens both ways. Sometimes woman is the one that is tricking the man, and then shows her true nature later.

I don't know about deserving things but this is how we learn.  Women are not necessarily innocent as you point out. Even if they are the physically weaker sex.  I was pointing out that this guy was easy to see through for most emotionally aware people. They are a minority I know. So life give lessons to the rest which are an opportunity to learn. Some don't seem to get it. That's life. :mushroom2:

Does that mean we should beat our children to give them lessons?

If you are beaten by your parents you do get a lesson. Do I get to decided what lessons are needed, or are good for others, or does life just give them, without my permission?

learn what lesson?

don't do this, or you will be hurt by your parents, that is the only thing you learn, that and violence can make people behave in a certain way

neating is a form of control, not teaching. The kid doesn't kill cats not because he starts respecting their life, but because he is afraid of beating.

The trouble with such a system of learning is that once sanctions stop, the behaviour is the same as before sanctions.

That is the kind of "teaching" out legal system is based on:
don't steal, you'll go to jail.

and then a war brakes lose, no law, every man for himself, suddenly, murders all over the place, people stealing, braking in house by house, taking everything but the kitchen sink.

I agree with you. :thumbup:You are not understanding what I am saying.  I do not think beating is a good way to teach. The lesson I am refering to here is that children will learn not to trust their parents or adults in general. I am just saying that any action in nature will be some kind of lesson. I was not putting human values of right or wrong on the lesson.

yes, you are right.
but can that really be called a "lesson"? If you ask me a lesson is a piece of truth, not just any piece of information

Their learning is a piece of truth. Truth is relative here. This "truth" may change with more understanding at a later time in life.

There is a lot more to conscious learning than Pavlov. The ability to observe cause and effect and learn from it is one of the things we have over animals. Beating an adult to teach them a lesson is no way at all. Hitting children may be the best option with a child in a certain situation but its benefits fade. WWJDGBA

This from the guy on the Witness Protection Program for snitching.  Does Veritas know of your checkered past?

I don't think I would even stand a chance of draw in tic tac toe against you. My guess is you're a master gamer in general. I can barely beat Kyle at chess and he's only 12.
