Change

There are transitions in life that define us (and sometimes overwhelm us)

How do you handle life transitions? Do you thrive on change, and jump in to new experiences, or do you agonize over what to do...is change fearful or exciting?

This is the discussion topic for my women's group meeting tonight. I thought it would be interesting to hear what y'all have to say about it, too. I'll post later on what my group had to say.

Like those cornball motherfuckers from Oasis said, you gotta roll with it. It seems to simple but its not. If you get overwhelmed you get overwhelmed. If you dont accept that your going to end up in a downward spiral. Likewise if you get everything just right, you have to accept that change is inevitable. God I hate that song.

many people talk about change in relation to 'us' or 'me' or 'you', as if those things are not themselves change.

change is the nature of life. it is not something that happens around us; we are part of it.

to answer the question, i try to neither thrive on or agonize over change. however, being a human i naturally end up rejecting unfavorable changes, and grasping on to things i don't want to change.

Do you thrive on change

I usually save up change and that way it pays for a week's groceries, so yes.

As I get older, and with the world changing exponentially, I value certainty and stability more than when I was younger.  But, without change there can be no growth, so it's all good.  Mostly I want to work on positive change for myself and others.  It starts with a good attitude and people pick up on that which changes their mood for the better.

sometimes its fun to just let go and confront an opportunity that is life changing and go on a whim. other times it best to assess if change is what you really need at the moment. so its important to understand your goals and decide if change is what you really need to help you achieve them.

you have me pegged
still, i felt like i would be lying to say i'm always open to change. i really don't think so. maybe i am too hard on myself. i've thought so before. like i live in perpetual self-flagellation. i feel like i'll lose something if i don't challenge myself.
