Charity is undoubtedly a good thing, but I'm skeptical of how much good it really does. The thing about world poverty is that the people suffering from it don't need handouts from rich people. They need the opportunities that come from development. Now, many have suggested foreign aid as a means to do this, and it too may do some good, but what it really requires is a change in their country's political structure.
