Does frost affect mushroom growth?

I am just asking this question because there has been a fairly heavy frost in the mornings, but clears up in the afternoon.

Sometimes yes..sometimes no. We have had a couple of frosts and some temps dipping below 0 c overnight, and I am still finding shrooms...some mushies prefer it a little cooler...and some need a cold snap to fruit...it all depends on whatcha lookin fo....

I am looking for anything Psilocybe. I live in Portland, Oregon area and our temps get down to 30 something at night and morning. I have not found any shrooms yet, so I am not sure if this is going to be good or bad for them.

You should be fine...try going to the coast...close to the sea..wood chips, buried wood...etc. If you know what they look like you will find them.

I recently moved to live on the East Coast of Canada and Psilocybe Semilanceata grow. This is my first season hunting so Im not an expert. People here that have been hunting for a few years seem to think that frost makes the mushrooms grow. Although these people have been hunting for a few years I dont think they know much about mushrooms at all except how to find them. They always say the best time to go hunting is after a good frost. I think it depends alot on the species your looking for.
