question about current drought in PNW
    #4508725 - 08/07/05 10:24 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

We've been in drought this entire year and i cant even remember the last time it rained. Plus its been about 80-95 for quite some time... is this autumns Cyanescen season going to be effected in any way?

:undecided:

I wouldn't call this past 12 months a drought, despite what some say. Sure it's been hot and dry, but it's that way every summer in the PNW. Just wait until fall and all your questions will be answered if you leave your house and check on those patches!

exactly what signo said...

and might I point out that last summer it was HOT!  And then it started raining in the end of the August, and didn't stop.... all the way through the season, and it was a GREAT season.  We got some amazing rains in September that really kicked things off.

So, it's too early to tell.  If you're really concerned, and know of some patches, you could always go out to them and help them along with some water of your own doing

I've heard it will start raining later this week. Thursday or Friday. Then I would educatedly guess it will gradually increase after that.

Say, sacredmushroom, I've been going back and forth, from Arlington, WA to Olympia, WA. Maybe we should pm if you wanna go on a hunt sometime. I haven't found any in Oly, but I bet Kennydale Park could bloom this Fall. The only cyans I know of are outside Arlington. Check ya later.

nothing will likely "show" until at least october, if by "show" you mean produce fruitbodies.

And I understand your impatience   Tis the season to be jolly!

yeah mr psilocin, I'm gonna try to live off of Cyanescens, all season.

In all seriousness, though, I swear I saw a thread about some kids in Seattle who really did live off the cyans. Like, 'cause they had to or something. I don't remember the details. Maybe that guy was joking. Oh well. Anayways, If that's true, I bet those kids are F@%*!$ UP!

If your really concerned with the lack of rain...start dancing! :dancing:

A patch I've been watering nearly everyday since April has been showing some strong mycelia growth, and has made me absolutely ecstatic about the upcoming season.

So they say this summer is a drought, but where I am at we have had more rain in between hot spells than the last few summers. Last year, yes, was absolutely outstanding. This year, I have a feeling, is going to be good as well, but alas, it is too early to tell. I have 6 patches this year, and I am hoping that they all do very well, which has been the case thus far.
