Does this look contaminated?
    #4507824 - 08/07/05 05:47 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

I noticed this grayish fussy growth on the verm/sphag peat moss casing layer.

You can see it best in the top left of the left pic, and you can kind of see it scattered throughout the right pic. Cobweb?

cobweb mold. its not too bad i think (but im no expert) squirt it with hydrogen peroxide. If it stays away after that you should be ok but if it spreads just toss it

I wouldnt toss a casing cause of cobweb  Now im not the best on casings AT ALL! i think there a pain in the ass. But spray it with 3% h202 hydrogen peroxide, and patch the mycelium (just put more casing layer over the white bits showing till the white bits start showing evenly) otherwise you will have loads of mushrooms on the right hand side of your casing and none on the left.

Cool thanks for the tip guys, it's good to know it wasn't a deadly infection lol. Anyway I urge you to check out my grow log, it's got loads of pics and pretty easy to follow.

OK currently I have a one cake casing of Mazatapec in my FC for the past 4 days. Cased with a little dry Verm on bottom and moistened Verm on top... I recently let my ultrasonic run a little long and it formed moisture droplets on the mycelium, not huge ones, but a fair amount of condensate. I have since been tryin not to run the ultrasonic too often only enuf to keep terrarium moist, but when i was inspectin my casing after fanning i noticed strange colors on the mycelium poking thru. I did clean my terrarium with lysol and I have heard that Lysol can cause mutated fruits.. can someone look at these pics and tell me if I should throw this casing out because of contams or wtf is goin on... thanks.

The Mycelium used to be a brilliant white now it is slightly blued / slimy looking... after i took the pictures i spread around the casing layer with a sterilized tool and inspected a chunk of the casing, underneath it is still brilliant white.. i really think lysol was mutating the top of the casing...
