will this work

i have a whole rice and verm jar colonized i was thinking about putting a sterile syringe back into the innoc holes and squirting water into them and scraping the mycelium to make a syringe. you guys think this would work?

you can try it, but i'm sure it will prove much more difficult in practice than in theory. you might end up just ruining a jar...

well i figure the inside of the jar is sterile so it should work, worth a try i suppose

yeah but funny enough i only have one jar of golden teacher, and i wanted to expand it. im thinking i might just do uncle lazlos tek intsead because it seems a little more stable.

sterility is your main concern. If your layer of verm has any baddies they may get involved and then it will fail. Otherwise great Idea and go for it. Just make sure you post the results. Maybe a new tek can be made Ces420 simple syringe tek for those who just can't wait :)

you should just open the colonized jar using the oven tek , and transfer bits of mycelium to uncolonized (sterile) jars with sterile tweezers. as long as you sterilize the jars and tweezers right, you shouldn't have problems with contams...

i squirt sterile water into jars, which aren't fully colonized and look like they need some more moisture, not had a problem yet.

Fill a kettle with water, throw syringe into kettle boil it, hold button down so it can't click off when it reaches boiling temp, boil it for extra 30 secs or so. Suck water in, suqirt it into sink, repeat about 5 times, to clean out needle inside the syringe. pull the water into the syringe, put it back in the kettle, boil it for another 30 secs. Works fine for me.

Gonna try your idea as well tomorow. I suspose it would just as easy, perhaps easier to just open the jar, get the cake out, crumble it then put pieces into new jars. Gonna try that as well. SO many things to try. I will not be happy till i 1782627 fully colonized jars. :)

id cut it into pieces and put it into jars but mine have a verm layer sooooooo........... im about to give a whirl to my lazy mycelium syringe making .
