casing question
    #450721 -

I just cased my trays of hay a couple of days ago, and when I looked today, there was way too much moisture inside. I kept the lids on, and was planning on doing this for a week, beofer initiating pinning. Should I put the tray in a tupperware container, and take the lids of the trays, and then just put the lid on the container? (and keep at 80 + F) Please help.
peace

I'd uncover the trays immediately and let the casing dry a bit. Wet casings invite contaminants. And until the casings dry some, I'd make sure the temps don't get too high. Make sure to change the air regularly if you're putting the trays in the chamber.

yeah i can agree with most of that. uncovering for a day or two will dry it out a bit but be careful with an uncovered/uncolonized casing. 1 mold spore on a wet casing will fuck up your shit in like 2 days. I had a puerto casing that was looking not to bad, about 1/3 of the one side was colonizing but it looked too wet so i took off the saran wrap i had on there for like 48 hours. when i covered it back up; next day i saw little white blotches on the uncolonized half-2/3 i was like 'sweet! it musta dried out and grown!' next day tehb white popped up in 3 or 4 more spots and by day 3 almost all of the uncolonized part was sucessfully colonized by cobweb mold and the healthy myc had shriveled and turned a brownish/yellow. that pissed me off a bit cos ive been waiting on that casing for over a month and finally was getting the good stuff going, then all of a sudden BAM! instant failure. maybe il have more luck with my lipas.....
