How much air does mycellium need to cultivate?
    #450676 -

Hypothetically speaking, if a person put a jar in a ziplock bag, would there be enough air for mycellium to grow?

i cant answer exactly but there r a few variables. one, would u be squeezing all the air out of the bag? is the lid on the jars airtight? plsatic bags r NOT airtight so air will still seep through, although very slowly. stale air probably wont be good though and any air that is able to get into the jars may be doing more harm than good

i would say no. the c02 build up in the beginning would facilitate growth but after you see some agressive mycylium growth it needs air.

Ziploc bags are great for cultivation. They are permeable to oxygen so there is no need to vent.
