Hung out with Lamb Of God last night
    #4506358 - 08/07/05 10:08 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I went to the wedding reception for a friend of mine last night. She used to be the roommate with the lead singer of the metal band Lamb Of God and is still friends with the band. The lead guitarist and the lead singer were at the party. I don't care for their music, but I got their autographs for my little cousin who likes them.

I got to hang out with the singer a little bit and I took a couple blurry pics of him. I talked briefly with him about Cristal champagne after making a joke that Cristal was "all I drink". He said that he drank a whole bottle of it once. I assumed this was when the band was on the Ozzfest tour. He said it wasn't anything big. That's the most memorable thing we discussed in the brief time we talked. I'm psyched about giving my little cousin those autographs. Anyway, it was interesting to be at a party with members of a semi-famous band, even though I don't care for their music personally. Here are two very shitty pictures of the singer and his girlfriend.

Singer,.........^ dancing with his girlfriend

Singer^ standing in front of his girlfriend who is sitting down.

That's awesome man!

I don't like them too much either, they're way too heavy for my tastes, but a few of my friends do like them, and either way, that's really cool.

What was your impression of them as people?

I only talked to the singer.  He was a really friendly and chill guy.  BTW, I remember the guitarist passing a bowl to him.  I distinctly remember him saying "Dude, it's cashed".  :rasta:  So they're smokers.

I heard that book is pretty amazing.

That's cool that you partied with them. I'm not a fan either. Do you have bigger pictures of them?

They're very talented musicians, that's for sure.

That book series changed my life completely. I highly, highly recommend it. It's deep as the abyss, dude. The first 5 books of the series come closer to answering life's biggest questions than any book that I know of.

I didn't get any bigger pictures of the guys. I didn't want to be a groupie. I mean, if it had been The Hives or some legendary psychedelic band, I definitely would. I just didn't want to be all in the guy's face.

BTW supposedly, the guy who started the band, but quit before they got big was at the party as well. I guess he's the Lamb Of God Pete Best in a way.

I hear ya on the groupie thing.  It's cool that you managed to get a couple pictures of him anyway.

About the book, that's what I've been told too.  It's on my list to read.  Have you read "Foucault's Pendulum" by Umberto Eco?  I have it but haven't read it yet.  I heard it blows "The Celestine Prophecy" right outta the water.  I'm looking forward to it.

The thing that separates the "Conversations With God" series from "The Celestine Prophecy" and most likely that Umberto Eco book is that CWG is supposed to be non-fiction.  The author, Neale Donald Walsch, is supposedly having a discussion with "God" by writing a question and then receiving the answer through his own hand and pen (automatic writing).  There are things about the series that make me question whether this is the true word of "God" coming through Walsch's pen.  However, in the end, the whole point of the book is that everyone and everything is quite literally "God".  So in that sense, it is the word of "God".  But so are the words you are typing to me. Know what I mean?

The whole point of the book is not for you to take what is being said as "the gospel", but rather to lead you to your own truth.  That's what that book did for me.  However, my own truth is very, very close to the truth this series lays out.

I understand what you mean by our word being the word of 'god'.  Just by your description, I'm sure I'll enjoy it profusely.  I have a few books I have to read first but they shouldn't take me long and when I finish, I'm definitely picking up CWG.
