A question about colonization and birthing.

Hey there fellow growers! Got a couple of newb questions for the more experienced growers.
I inoculated my pre-sterilized 1/2 pint jars on 7/16. all of them are are basically white except for maybe 1/4 inch of vermiculite on the tops. My question is this. Are they fully colonized or should i not expect to see any vermiculite at all? Most of the teks suggest that after birthing you would need to scrape of any excess but I'm not quite sure how much that is. Another question I have is this. After the cakes are fully colonized should i take them out of the inoculation chamber before or after primordia start to form? Then, how long after I take them out should I dunk them, then put them into the fruiting chamber?

The vermiculite layer on top won't colonize much. It's use is for filtration only in PF jars. If the cakes appear to be done colonizing, give them an extra few days to get really done well. You can start to introduce them to light to promote some pinning, or you can birth them and double end case them with moistened vermiculite for fruiting. Either way doesn't matter much IMO. I'd skip the dunk for the first flush, but dunk after each flush there after.
