Bamaman, I tried to find the pictures you speak with no success. However, I believe I have seen the mushrooms you speak of in southern Mississippi. My best guess without making a very stong effort to ID them is that they belong to the Genus Stropharia. I am almost certain they are not active. Wish I could see a picture.

no need to be an ass .
fact is, you posted an id request in two threads that have nothing to do with ID requests, therefore people (rightly) gave you some shit about it.
next time you post one, make your own thread, and resize your pics, FFS.
anyway looks like it could be a species of Agaricus or maybe Stropharia coronilla. it wouldn't be active in either case.

first of all the southeast thread is for finds not ID's if you want someone to give a valid ID you to have you own thread and pics A pic is worth a thousand words

look, i'm a little new to the etiquette around here. the "post your southeast finds" appeared to be the right thread since i did actually FIND it in the SOUTHEST, so i POSTED it. and since the mushroom hunting forum is designated for hunting and IDing... it sure seemed appropiate.
my deepest apologies, i don't know what i was thinking...
this threads title also fit, as i spelled out to whats-his-name. and since the opening post wasn't a serious request to begin with, i really didn't see the harm, and frankly i still don't.
i honestly did not realize that i should start my own thread on the same subject, since in my "forum" experience starting new threads on a subject that is already being discussed, is usually frowned upon. but if that is norm here, then by all means i will try to be normal.(did i just say that?) _________ _________
now as to the real subject of the thread as posted by mskip23, i do have a positive id.
that is not a magic mushroom...it is a mellow mushroom. in the town to which i live fairly close, a patch of that same species is growing straight out of the concrete in front of the pizza parlor that bears the same monicker,(mellow mushroom). whether it is edible i would say no, except that it sure would be fun to watch if ya' tryed.

No worries Bamaman. I think we all get a little too uptight sometimes. I made the same mistake. I doubt you'll get expelled for a couple of mistakes. consider ourselves schooled.
