Easy way to make terrarium air-tight?
    #4504918 - 08/06/05 10:40 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

My terrarium is ALMOST airtight, but it's not a perfect fit due to the lid. I've scouted everywhere for a perfect terrarium, but this is as close as I could come.

Now, the only thing I can really think of to seal it completely is to tape it all around the crack, but that's a bit sloppy. I've tried bathtub sealer tape, but it only worked semi-well.

It is crucial for it to be completely air-tight, correct?

definitely not... read about the importance of air exchange. caulk and seal real good and now had to resort to leaving the lid cracked open to get more fresh air in.

No, in fact it would be better off if you had a couple of small holes that were covered by tyvek or stuffed with polyfil. This would allow some air exchange without letting contams in.
