Huge Honeywell portable hepa = $5
Hybrid impeller type cool mist with 4.5 gallon reservoir = $2

Sometimes you walk into a thrift store & just stumble over bargains.

LOL, it can become an obsession. I have a whole room full of "extra" mycological paraphernalia.

Then there are those couple extra fridges in the garage - I cannot store libations & spirits in - as they are incubating - one thing or another.

Agar... do you just use coffee filters as a contam barrier? i see no polyfill in your jars. and it looks like a coffee filter, not tyvek? is that a one site injection?

cheap? definetly sounds like the right place for me to post...;)

forgive my ignorance on every aspect of this subject(i have been searching shroom sites for 2 days and still don't quite understand some things)

i did read moes outdoor growing advice and it seems simple enough.

i was hoping to find some in the wild, but i just don't know enough to feel comfortable taking the chance that i have identified it correctly.

1.
i'm in southeast alabama, and i want some STRONG cubees that will grow well outdoors in this hot humid climate...any advice on a particular strain?

2.
i'm still not sure what the function of a "cake" is or if it will be needed in outdoor growing?

3.
from what i gather, a cake, is a food host from which newly forming shrooms feed and sprout...yes?

4.
let's say i choose a strain and order it from one of these online companies...should i order the syringe or the print?

[keep in mind that i really only want enough for about nine good trips]

5.
if my crop yields more than what i'm wanting, then what is the best method for semi long term storage (6-12mnths)?

6.
how secure should i feel having my order delivered to my home?

7.
if i am growing outdoors and know what i'm growing then no contam worries, right?

8.
if after taking some i find tentacles growing out my arse, should i go to the E.R.?

also i have posted some pics of some local shrooms i picked check my posts and see if you can help identify...

thanks in advance for any help...

threadjacker!

1.A cube is a cube, what matters is your substrate.  If you want potent cubes stick with grain spawned to poo.

2. Cakes are almost always needed.  It is the fully colonized brick you end up with.  This is what the mushrooms will fruit off of.

3.yes

4. I say syringe, for one, you dont have to buy empty syringes.  Two, prints add a step (making a syringe) which may require a glovebox and adds one more chance for contams to get in.  With a syringe you just sterlize the needle and you're good to go.

5.  If you get them cracker dry, keep them in a dark cool place, shrooms can last a long time.  Id say at least a year if you did it right.

6. Very, i think most sponsors here destroy your records once everything is completed.  Syringes come in discreet pacakging (IE no labels with MUSHROOM SPORES! all over it).  www.shroomery.org/sponsors  I reccoment sporesource, or spores 101.  Both are great, but all the vendors here will treat you well, make sure to mention you're a shroomery member when ordering!

7. I believe you're less likely to contract a contam outside, but you should ALWAYS worry about contams.  Especially black mold.

8. No, find new and interesting ways to use them.  Plus you might find them helpful whilst in bed with the lady(ies)

Actually, I believe Agar likes the tyvek over the metal lid so he can write on it.

Nope, the person who posted above is correct. Agar goes tyvek, lid, ring, double layer of coffee filters, so he can write on the coffee filters (plus dust cover).

Tyvek under the lid, coffee filters over the lid, held down with a rubber band.

#5 is after PC'ing 90 minutes

Coffee filters only serve as an exterior DUST COVER.
They will not work as gas exchange filters (to porous)
