dehydrated cake

I made a batch of pf jars(my 3rd time!)

anyway i did this  about a month ago, all the other jars are 90% and will soon be cased. however, 1 jar of GT looks like all the water was dryed out of the substrate. I know what hydrated cakes should like like and this one sure is void of water :frown:

i was thihking if their was anyway to re-hydrate it. like dunking it. and putting it back in the jar.
can this be done or is it not worth the risk of contams that it would be exposed too during the process.

your jars probably not as bad as you think just flip it upside down and let the bottom of the substrate seperate from the jar to allow for better air exchange.

well if you dunk it and give it a little bit of a shake all the uncolonised substrate will desolve in the water and ull just be left with a wierd shaped colonised cake which you can just roll in vermiculite and birth or just case

^^ dangerous, uncolonized portions may lead to contams. You're best waiting it out for a few. If no growth id say birth it and cut out the uncolonized portion then dunk it.
