Big Caps?
    #450345 - 11/07/01 04:26 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I'm growing Cambodians, I'm guessing that I am on my third flush out of my casing. I cased with 50/50 mix of verm and peat moss. I fanned at least three times a day in my terraruim and misted the sides being careful not to mist the casing. But all my caps have been relatively small in diameter, probably not over and inch maybe 2" at the most. Is this as big as these caps for Cambodians get? I've got this kick ass shroom going now, it was the thickest pin I've seen yet! Thanks in advance.

The mushroom size is very much substrate dependant. If you want big shrooms, use either straw or dung as the main substrate ingredient.

the size of your caps (and the entire mushrooms) depends on a lot of variables. Dung and straw does improve the size of your mushrooms... also, really high humidity levels are suppose to increase the size of the caps on Pan. species, but I personally have nothing to support that with. Play around with your substrate or just keep on growing and see if anything goes different for you

This was just my first run, I think i did very well. I am enjoying the fruits of my labor, so I am happy, I had 1 out of 4 casings succeed. I'm going to re-do somethings better on the next batch. First time is always the learning one!
