What Should I Do?
    #4503270 - 08/06/05 09:28 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I hadn't checked my casings in awhile and when I do one of them is covered in the green mold. All the rest of my casings are fine, so I just take it out and throw it away. Is it safe to keep the shrooms off the other casings or could the green mold somehow affected the healthy casings? What should I do?

As long as no green molds show up in the other casing, they will be fine to eat. If on the other hand green mold does show up, then you will have to throw them away.

is that really true though? lots of people are saying that eating shrooms off of contamed cakes or substrates is often just fine. perhaps it depends on the type of contam.

I'm pretty sure that eating shrooms from green mold contamination is safe albeit pretty gross and possibly upsettling. The biggest problem with green mold is that it will spread like crazy so if you see it you should throw it away unless you want to see it again.
