With a fork/spoon, your hands, whatever. How you get it out isn't so important, as you're going to be breaking it into tiny pieces regardless.

Also on a side note, what's the best thickness for the substrate layer under the casing?
I have a 9"x7"x7" bin I'd like to use, and 2 of my wbs colonized pint jars.
I'm thinking that should be a deep enough substrate later, while adding 1/2" to 3/4" casing layer. Comments?

3" to 4" is a really good substrate thickness to work with.

Wow my first casing was an inch, if that. Then I had a 1/4" casing layer on top. Oh well I'll leave it in the fruiter and see how it comes out!

Ok here's a little photo album of my next casing.
(3 pint jars of colonized WBS)
The myc stalled for quite a while on the 2 right jar pics, so I only used the colonized section. Little wbs went to waste.
(close up of broken up WBS substrate)
(added WBS substrate layer to bin)
(added moist 60/40 verm/sphag. peat moss on top (crumbled lightly ))
(time for the incubator)
(my little setup...love the thermometer; tells me inside and outside Temp)

I'm doing better...I stopped smoking the cigarettes 12 days ago. It's been a little intense. But I'm starting to feel alot better.

I'm having a hell of a time making a cover for my aquarium. The best I came up with so far were two wire hangers bent into the shape of a lid, then bent down the smaller sides to form 2 handles that will hug the sides of the aquarium. Then I wrapped saran wrap over it and melted the edges to the wire hangers. Not wide enough though >:(.

If you got a couple extra bucks, head to home depot and get a thin peice of plexi cut a bit bigger then you need. They'll cut it roughly for you there.

Does it have to fit airtight or do I just plunk it on top of the aquarium end of deal?

Well I guess all I can do now is wait for pins. I now have 2 casings set up and various threads with questions concerning different things so I'm just going to stick with this thread from now on and throughout the grow. Maybe I'll set up a grow log too.
