Is too much light bad??
    #449911 - 11/07/01 07:21 AM (15 years, 5 months ago)

I have 4 cakes birthed in an aquarium using perlite humidification. A couple feet above the top i have a 40 watt light that is on about 15 hours a day. I birthed monday and am waiting for pins. Any suggestions on how to speed up pinning??
Two of the cakes had green mold and i ripped that part off the cake before puting it in the aquarium. The mold has not yet reappeared. Do the have a chance to produce shroomies??

You can go with less light 15 hours is a bit excessive, but wont hurt. Yes they may still produce and they will be safe to eat. Good luck, just watch your humidity and you should be fine.

As far as lights go, 12/12 is fine, and even less is fine, too. The quickest way to speed up pinning is being patient. Believe that. As far as the green mold goes, keep an eye on the cakes. It's not worth the exposure to the mold.
