FINALLY!! Pinning! Thank the gods! I want to thank those who advised me that dunking would do the trick. I dunked my so called cakes 3 nights ago and BAM! Today, I have 5 little baby mushrooms peaking their heads out. I was worried b/c I've done so many things "wrong" that I didn't think I'd get anything more than a learning experience out of the whole thing. Anyhow, for those who helped before, I hope you can help again. I have 12 half pint jars incubating right now in a Styrofoam cooler w/ a 50 watt aquarium heater keeping it right at 80 degrees. They were inoculated 5 days ago. I am experimenting with different "tightnesses" on the lids, as well as inoculation sites (Middle vs. 4 corners due to the fact that I have real trouble squeezing 1/4 cc in a tiny hole). So anyways, a few of the jars that were inoculated in 4 corners have started to grow gray matter in there. Now, it looks like a thin layer of myc in all ways except that it's not bright white. Should this be considered contamination or should i wait and see if it thickens up, getting more dense, turning white? Problem is with my last batch, instead of using BRF and verm, I used BRF and Perlite. That's what happens when you don't read directions. I don't have a digi camera, so I can't post pics. However your best guesses would be appreciated.
