does the heat produced in a food dehydrator threaten mushroom potency? Using a fan is a pain in the ass

If you have a dehydrator with a temp setting, simply set it around 97F & no damage is done.

Yep.

I wouldn't worry about a food dehydrator at all.  Not unless the temp gets incredibly high, but all a food dehydrator does is just circulate the air, with some warmth to wick away the moisture.

So, you're in the clear .

I have a plain dehydrator with no setting, so it really gets up there.  1-2 days and large harvests are cracker dry, and my friends aren't complaining about potency whatsoever.  If anything, TOO potent might be an issue for some of them

I have a dehydrator with a temp setting, and with it on 95, the minimum, it works perfectly.

Try cranking it up. Until about 220 or so, it's not possible for heat to degrade psilocybin.

Wow, there are more than usual amount of posts asking about dehydrators.

Goood,  guess this must be harvest time for many.

School must be starting up again.

But yea, do as mentioned above---> and go with a dehydrator.  Like mentioned, there isn't a noticeable poetency loss, but if you want to satisfy yourself, you can always open the dehydrator and disable the heater.  I've heard this is easy to do.  There are instructions around here somewhere if you so choose.
