Opium, Buying fresh Papaver Somniferum pods online?
    #4494195 - 08/04/05 08:44 AM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Is that possible just to buy fresh pods online and bleed the latex out of them, thus forgoing the 1yr grow?

I've heard that poppies don't do well indoors. But I suppose it could be done with the proper equipment.

Poppies like it cold. You could do it year around if you have extra good AC but otherwise, only in cold months.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

if you wanted to keep yourself in opium between the harves seasons, you'd need 5
acres of planted poppies for a single person, you'd also need several people to
help you work all those poppies.

i think a half acre would be plenty.
especially f its slightly alkaline fertile loam.
just rotortill up the dirt maybe get a farmer to dump you off some dung, plow it in, spread straw, and mix it in too.

then plant in the early fall, in rows about a foot apart plant plants loosely, but not spaced way out.

i used to have a half acre garden on a south facing slope.
cant bELEIVE i never used it.
i would have used the top 10 ft width for vegitables the second 10 for corn (high conceilment) then put a row of pot behind it facing south, and the vast majority for poppies,
maybe someday when i get my own house. gardening space is a high priority.

I really don't understand the prevalent notion that poppies cannot be cultivated indoors, or that one needs huge amounts of land to partake of it often.
A single plant is a dose. 3 plants do well in a 11-litre bucket. A balcony can easily accomodate 6-8 buckets. A southern-facing balcony in a mediterranan climate can allow 3 growing cycles per year. 3*[6-8]]*3 = 54-72 = Horrorshow moloko more than once a week.

Ah, I would never circumvent the sacred, just and benevolent drug laws of my country. But once, while munching on datura seeds while sniffing vodka I experienced a strange delirium in which I did just that (with 3 buckets), and it worked beautifully - except during the infamous July-August heat, in which seedlings die en masse; though keeping them inside a room and filtering the sunlight seemed to be a promising method for accomplishing 4 cycles a year.
