Drying

Hey everyone,
I was wondering about a really good way to dry mushrooms without loosing any potencey. I know many of the methods but I wanted to know what you, more experienced growers, would reccomend? I was thinking of drying it with a fan for 24-48 hours and either placing it into a container with desscant, or putting a black shirt over the cultivated shrooms and applying a heat lamp above them...this way the heat would not directly come in contact with the shrooms but it would dehydrate them. Tell me what you think. Thanks

Drying can be a bitch, especially when you get 300+ wet grams to deal with. I don't know how the bulk growers do it without going insane. I'd recommend getting a cheap dehydrator on eBay, an American Harvest brand. If you go the route of drying with a fan then using desiccant it'll take a lot longer and you'll spend more money in the long run. Good luck.

go with as planned minus the heat. desiccant is cheap and readily available. I haven't met a shroom that hasn't been able to cracker dry in a desiccant chamber.

300 wet grams = just over 1 oz dry
not a big problem...
you have the right idea, fan dry a couple of days, and then put em in a container with desiccant

Tried it, didn't work at all. Wound up eating all the ones that were still moist. Took days to dry them in the desiccant chamber after fan drying. Did this drying in the same containers/methods I've used to dry smaller flushes. It was a big problem for me. Had to eat the mush before it was about to rot.

I own the American Harvest dehydrator mentioned above. Got it on ebay for something like 22 dollars. It is wonderful, takes less than a day to dry out most fungus.

That's what I use too, and I give it a
But, in case you missed the thread earlier about thrift stores, that is where I recommend getting them if you have the patients to look. I see them from time to time, and they usually go for $3-$5. At the most, $10 - shipped instantly to your hands. ,.....who wants to wait.
