simple spore tek

has anyone tried anything like this? it is working for me
and it seems a lot easier than most of the spore collection teks
I have read that involve getting a spore print and then putting in
water -

SPORE TEK

1. Fill a ? pint jar ( with holes in lid that have been taped) with 20ccs of water
( squirt in two standard syringes )

2. Sterilize the water jar, the empty syringe and inoculation jars with brown rice powder formula

3. Put on latex disposable gloves. Cut off a cap with a sterilized blade. quickly transfer it to the water jar. ( undo lid, drop it in, re-seal lid )

4. Shake periodically. Let cap float in water for 12 hrs.

5. Untape one of the lid holes. Insert sterilized syringe.
tilt jar so that water is over the hole. Withdraw 10 cc of ?spore water?

6. Inject 1 cc into each of your prepared inoculation jars.

Yeah it has been said before and is a very good method.

I want to get a jar with a filter disc on it and self healing hole. Put water in the jar and boil it off completely in the microwave, sterilizing and drying out the jar. Then dump the cap in until the spores drop. I would put it in a drying chamber so moisture will be sucked out of the cap, I figure more spores will fall this way (maybe not). The dried cap will be easier to get out quickly. I am thinking you can open the lid with the jar held on its side with the cap open at the bottom so contams won't float in.

Then I can inject a syringe onto the dry print through the injection site. I can now suck up all the water and dry out the jar in the drying chamber again. This will leave the spores dry. Most say a print will last longer than a syringe.

the only problem i have with that method is, you don't know how much contamination will be present on top of the cap... this method sounds like it could be hit or miss, depending on how clean the growing area is

I also have a problem with soaking the cap in water for 24 hours, that cant be great for it? Does it get mushy, do you toss it or dry it or what?

yeah, the cap in the water thing to me just sounds like contam waiting to happen. I've seen sort of the same idea, but the cap was just hanging over the solution from a fishing hook, not actually in the solution.
