How long do you wait before trashing a jar?

I'm new at this. I have knocked up a few jars now, some with BRF and some with rye berries. I'm the guy who had myc showing in 6 hours in one jar. Some of the jars have been slow to show signs of colonization but they are getting there. Some show nothing. There's no bad odours coming from the jars. So how long before you realize there's no hope for it? i'm loathe to toss out a jar that was mere moments from getting it's act together. I won't throw them out unless i need the jars for another batch,is that the best rule of thumb?

I believe the rule of thumb, is to wait atleast 2 weeks. If you don't see anything then, then toss it.

Correct me if I'm wrong though...

Two weeks sounds fair enough. then i can just tell the jar "ok,I'll give you ONE more day" and see if that scares it into submission!
