Like I tell all the wv hillbillies, only thing worth looking for up in them there hills is Psilocybe cornliquor var. moonshinii :) Nah, seriously though there isn't much up your way. I would look for Panaeolus subbalteatus in horse pastures late spring and early summer and maybe Psilocybe caerulipes along stream banks rich in woody debris. I've heard tales of Psilocybe cubensis showing up in them hills for about a week or two during a good wet year, but you have to know where to go and be in the right spot at the right time, or you won't find shit. I'd say your best bet is the Pan subbs. LK,

You wouldn't even find mushrooms in Washington! You should just kill yourself like you suggested Pseudonaut do! :) Just kidding, Pan subbs are something to start with, man! Maybe Ps. cubensis? Ps. caerulipes? Ps. Weilii? Stay cool!-Levi7.

I'm just messin with ya, maaaaaan :) My best friend is from west virginia and I always make fun of him as a joke, just like he calls me a minnesotan yankee. Nothing to be taken personal. I live in GA, I can only imagine the things folks could say about my state, and most of its true :) Anyways, check them horse fields in spring and summer after a few good rains and I gurantee you you'll find some Panaeolus subbalteatus, they are quite an abundant mushroom. I have a friend(my best friends cousin) that lives in WV that picks a good amount of subbs every year, and from what he says they sound a good bit more potent that our subbs here in GA. Another tip, look in grass clipping piles, anywhere the lawn mower empties its load, subbs love to grow out of old rotted grass clippings. Check with lawn care services and see where they dump all their clippings, I'll bet you could find the nother load. Also check horse stables and ask them where they dump their manure pitts, I did this and hit the jackpot with the subbs and even a few loose cubies. Hold on a sec and I'll get you a pic of what your looking for.
