Intelligence is the ability to solve problems, learn new things, incorporate the learned knowledge into the solution of future problems, extrapolate generalities from specifics, and other similar activities.

As I already stated, I used the term "AI" because it already has a well-defined and generally understood meaning in our society.

Anyone who hasn't studied computer science most likely thinks of AI as you would think of Artificial Sentience, but only because they haven't been exposed to the AI that we already have

So I use AI for convenience in a forum not specific to comp-sci students.

The trick is to make an intelligent machine sentient. That's never been done (that we're aware of) and if it ever is accomplished, it would be hard to prove the machine really is sentient.

By that same reasoning it is hard to prove that humans are sentient.

No but I recognize the name. I was never really into manga, I guess. Should I watch it?

anime*

And yes, make sure it's the first movie.

There is a sequel and a TV series. You don't need to waste your time with that.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113568/

Deals a lot with AI.

Great anime.

actaully Ghost in the Shell was a manga series which formed the basis for the first movie. But anyway, I also recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. It's a great movie to trip to because it deals with consciousness and AI. it'll make you think.

So I figured he's already heard of it as anime, just confused the word anime with manga.

I still haven't seen the second movie.
