Help-contam spores hydrated from print
    #448888 - 11/06/01 10:52 AM (23 years, 8 months ago)

Any chance that I can save my spores? I recvd prints from Hawk w/o instructions. No reply when I requested instructions. I assumed(!) that the contents were sterile and I added autoclaved water directly to the ziplock to hydrate and collect the spores. Upon plating- psuedomonas! Any chance that I can 1) plate on antibiotic plates or 2) make serial dilutions and streak for pure cultures?

Many Thanks

you seem to know about agar culture procedures but you need instructions for a print. now thats weird man. get another (or maybe several) and try again. hints: on the web - MMGG; on your hands - the mushroom cultivator.
good luck.

Just stick some on an agar plate and subsequetly isolate the myc from any contams that form. Repeat as necessary!

NDK was right. As it turns out, I had dropped small drops on one plate and added ~ 1/2 mL to another. Although the bacteria grew faster, the myc is now showing up in areas that are free of bacteria and should be isolatable.
Thanks again.

since when did spores come with instructions? I thought they were sold for identification reasons only.
