Pin heads turning gray as they mature?
    #4481104 - 08/01/05 03:43 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

A few details about my casing: No perlite or anything in the bottom of the tub, just the casing itself inside a large rubbermaid with water sprayed all over the walls / bottom. Casing has a large split in the middle because the container I cased it in was too flimsy. I'm guessing I lost a lot of moisture because of this.

My pins are starting out great, but they're turning gray the more they mature. Could this be lack of humidity and if so, could I pour some water in the middle of my casing so it goes down into the bottom (where the crack is) to rehydrate it? If humidity isn't a problem I'm not sure what else could cause this. Casing looks healthy otherwise. It's 40/60 verm coir

Bump.. this is really concerning me. The pins are growing great, but then as they get older the top starts turning gray / black and I've had to remove several of them. Small pins are doing the same as well..could I pour some water in the middle of my casing to rehydrate? (Theres a huge open crack in middle of casing so it won't go directly on top of the casing layer)

I just stuck my finger down in the crack and it's really moist. I guess I was wrong about moisture content being too low. Fuck this sucks

Just curious, what are your temps? have they been spiking lately?
and what are u doing for air exchange and how often?

I've had something similar happen but temps got hot as hell and there was a severe lack of good air exchange...

Take care n be safe...

Temps are remaining the same, around 70-73 at all times. Air exchange occurs via manual hand fanning at least 3 times a day. I fan them for about 10 seconds each time.
