corn q's
    #4480713 - 08/01/05 01:49 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

okay, yesterday i took the corn that i bought from a walgreens two bottles of corn.. i let sit for 24 hrs in water, then boiled and simmered low, then strained and let sit for 15 mins and then poured back in big pot without water stirred and then restrained and let sit for 20mins.. then i took my jars that have 4 small holes and one 1/4 hole with polyfil, closed jars put electric tape on holes and then did a double layer of foil and tape foil to jars with electri tape and placed in pc with 1" inch of water pc'ed them for 80 minutes with 10 psi... let them sit overnight and when i get home tonight at 6:30 i was going to inoculate them.. but before i do that i wanted to pass this through and see if i did anything wrong that it wont work... i just read that people say to rinse the corn with water after they have simmered? also heard i could use verm on the bottom and top of corn? will that make the difference for me to make this work... when i get home i will check the jars for water in bottom of jar or slime or smell, cause if anything i can redo the corn but dont wanna waste the spores...any help please?

Corn is a bad fruiter

And Verm. on the bottom is a good idea, Esp. for corn, it gets slimy on the bottom IME.

Don't really need it on the top...

if you rinse the corn it will make things go faster starch slows colonization but contaims seem to like it. The jars should still work though just shake em good before you inject and only inject in one hole if the polyfill is in the middle you can inject though that.Just point the needle to the four corners and tilt the jar so it runs down the glass. Four injection points means four chances to fuck up each jar instead of one

content and pc.

dont let him fool u, corn can make some amazing fruits!

Pressure - Temperature Table
PRESSURE SETTINGS
POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH (PSI)
TEMPERATURE EQUIVALENT
USE

low
5 PSI
220 degrees F./100 degrees C.

medium
can vary from 8-10 PSI, check owners manual
about 235 degrees F./115 degrees C.

high
standard is 15 PSI, although beware of brands like TFAL that only reach 13 PSI*
250 degrees F./120 degrees C.

I think you will be fine mabey 90mins next time to be sure
