Since summer started I havent practiced classical guitar at all, everytime I pick the instrument up I will just try and solo to an imaginary jazz song in my head. I will improv for an hour, sometimes more. Im sure its not particularly striking improv, but I enjoy playing it. So a few minutes ago I decided to play some classical, as just improv'ing isnt really making me a better guitar player, and I noticed that I cant play anything I used to. I mean I can play it somewhat, but a lot of times my picking fingers will hit the wrong strings, or I will finger the wrong fret. Its distressing me at the moment. Its like Ive gone back in guitar skill by like 6-8 months.
Yea thats probably true. I enjoy playing classical but its so rigid to learn. A lot of songs have me moving my fingers all over the fret board, which is very tiresome sometimes, it was nice to just sort of sit back and try to create music.
