STERILIZING QUESTION

My pressure cooker will only hold 7 jars at a time. After i finish sterilizing one batch, Do i have to change the water inside before i sterilize the second batch?

I could, but then i would have to have the water completely covering the jars on the bottom. Then water will get into my jars! (Not a good thing).. Unless you know different

I know different. You only need an inch or two of water in a PC.

Very interesting, Why do the teks tell you to fill it up half way up the jar?

Wouldn't an inch eventually evaporate? Tell me everything you know about pressure cooking these substrates.

Your talking about Teks that require steaming, not pressure cooking. Yes, an inch would eventually evaporate, sometime after an hour or so.

so your telling me that i can pack as many jars in the pressure cooker as i can fit... and I only need a few inches of water. PC them for an hour and them im all set?

Yeah, but an hour might be too long. Jars will dry out some what in a PC. What are you cooking? PF?, a half hour should do. Whole grains take longer. Let them cool in the PC before opening. About 5 hours.

i already cooked them for 30 min and took them out a few hours ago... Is it safe to put them back in and cook for another 25-30 minutes?
