i don't know if I'd tell them. I sure would be sad though. If I was going to tell them I guess all I could say is even after I'm gone I'll still love them and that I hope to see them again in some way, shape, or form. That would be very very hard for me though.

I think you'd have to tell them. Better for them to prepare and be at least kind of ready for it than to be totally suprised by it. It would be very selfish to not tell them I think.

It'd be a pretty tightly knit smallll group of people I'd tell..very few indeed. And I'd probably tell them all at different times too, stagger it out a bit.

But yeah in the end I'd want to have some crazy times with the people I loved the most before I did die...

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

while i really fear death in all the normal senses, i also kinda look forward to it, to see what will happen. i don't mean i'm suicidal or anything, i love life now and hope to experience much much more as it continues onwards. just that, for example, everytime i'm in an airplane that is about to land, i'm not worried that we'll crash and burn. if it happens, well fuck it - and now i get to see what this death thing is all about!

tell them they can get ready emotionally or whatever. Ive had 2 deaths in my family one slow(cancer) and one sudden accident. guess which one was worst. it took like one year for it just to sink in.

It would be easier emotionally for them if they knew in advance. It would still be hard, but not as hard. And think of how they would feel when you did die or were really close to dying, and they found out that you knew you were dying and didn't tell them. Dont you think that would hurt them even more?

Sure it would be a hell of alot harder to tell them about it, but like most things in life the hard way is usally the right way.

Havent some theorized that psychedelic drug induced ego loss is basically what happens when one dies? At least thats what I gathered from this book I saw in Barnes and Noble, it was called the Psychedelic Experience or something like that, and it said alot about the Tibetan book of the Dead.

yep, it's an 'interpretation' of the tibetan book of the dead by tim leary, richard alpert, and a couple other of those harvard guys.

interesting book - although really 'skims' through a lot of the tibetan philosophy (as a lot of western 'interpretations' of eastern thought tend to...)

I would gather everybody around my inversion table and break the news. They could then hop onto the inversion table to relieve the accompanying stress of the whole situation.
