Syd Barrett Solo albums

Anybody into his solo work at one time or another? I got into his stuff a few years back. Very somber but he was an incredible songwriter at times. I'm sure his mental condition caused much of the delirium to come out in his writing. Anyone share my appreciation for good ol' Syd?

Not something that you can listen to often, infact I haven't really listened to it much in a few years but his lyrics can be amazing.

i've got them all, and dig them very much. something about the fact that the man is batshit crazy and yet still writes amazing psychedelic pop medleys just floats my boat.

I like that one song "Golden Hair" - lyrics taken from James Joyce - that's about it though.

Yeah, not discrediting his Floyd work by any means, Jugband Blues is probably my all-time Syd/Floyd song, it's just well, with those solo efforts & it's kinda shitty to say, but you know that all of that, all those feelings that he was trying to convey while losing his mind, it's just utterly beautiful music. I've made friends listen to it, Floyd fans mind you, but they couldn't dig it. Understandable, it's a bit rough at it's best and pretty maniacal at it's worst but I will say this, it's the only music that I have ever listened to (not tied to a memory or anything) that could make me cry because of how raw & real it is. Those albums are the rawest form of human emotion in music that I have ever heard. Whenever I am down & out they always warrant a listen.

Octopus on Madcap
Trip to heave and ho, up down, to and fro You have no word Trip, trip to a dream dragon Hide your wings in a ghost tower Sails crackiling at ev'ry plate we break Cracked by scattered needles Little minute gong Coughs and clears his throat Madam you see before you stand Hey ho, never be still The old original favourite gran Grasshoppers green herbarian band And the tune they play in us confide... So trip to heave and ho, up down, to and fro' You have no word Please leave us here Close our eyes to the octopus ride! Isn't it good to be lost in the wood Isn't it bad so quiet there, in the wood Twenty even less to me than i thought With a honey plough of yellow prickly seeds Clover honey pots and mystic shining feed... Well, the madcap laughed at the man on the border Hey ho, huff the talbot Cheetah he cried shouted kangaroo So through their tree they cried Please leave us here Close our eyes to the octopus ride! The madcap laughed at the man on the border Hey ho, huff the talbot The winds they blew and the leaves did wag And they'll never put me in their bag The seas will reach and always see So high you go, so low you creep The winds it blows in tropical heat The drones they throng on mossy seats The squeaking door will always creep Two up, two down we'll never meet So merrily trip for good my side Please leave us here Close our eyes to the octopus ride!
