I've been intrigued by the thought of experiencing the effects of mushrooms for quite some time now; yet I have never had the chance to do so with close, trusted friends until now. My problem (and hence, my question) is that I have a (potentialy fatal) heart condition. To say that I HAVE it is a bit misleading. My father and his brothers have (or, sadly, had) it, yet all of my tests have come out negative. Cardiac arythmias (heart attacks) have occured while in middle age, and doctors beleive it to be from an overlap in the electical signals in the heart. I take 20 mg twice a day of beta blockers to slow the rate of my heart, and thus reduce the risk of the signals overlapping. I really would like to experience mushrooms, but I don't know if my current condition would allow me so. If anyone has any advice, or knows someone who does, I would apriciate it greatly. Thank you.

Sorry, were not doctors. Please ask your doctor these questions. This isnt the place for it. Take care,

Thank you. I don't know how much my doctor would know about shrooms, though. I have been researching, but I wanted some extra information straight from someone who has experienced them firsthand. I guess I was more interested in waht effects psylocybin has on the rest of the body besides the nervous system.

I have PVC's all the time (premature ventricular contraction) which is a type of heart arythmia where electrical signals in the heart go into a "loop". Every once in a while the loop breaks and the ventrical contracts out of order, the heart skips a beat, and I get a pounding feeling in my chest. I also have a heart murmur (falty valve), but it's not dangerous. I don't know if this is what you have or not, but my doctor has not prescribed anything for me. More, I have used shrooms several times with no ill effect at all. So there you go. I have heart problems (kind of) and use shrooms with no problems. But you still might want to ask a doctor about it.
