just a few from today...pics
    #4468953 - 07/29/05 02:38 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

hello.

these were found on a lawn in northern virginia, usa. its been over a week since we've had any mushrooms here, the extreme heat has subsided and a few were coming up today.

I know I'm going to get "that's a foe" or "that's a subb" and I'm pretty sure it's neither. I'm quessing it is pan of some sort, does anyone reconize?

I'm still waiting for a deep print, will have it tomorrow, but I can tell you it is black.

I had those in my yard too. It's probably some species of Panaeolus, but I'm pretty sure it's not subbalteatus or foenisecii. I'm not sure though.

these are the same ones, right? I see one there with the rim even and one with the rim turned down (I'm comparing the two on the left) If those are the same mushrooms, that says that it is an environmental issue (maybe one is in the shade, where the other is sunbaked, or w/e)
I still say subbs, you? What about those others that were definately bell-shaped? Did you eat them? Are they active? Do these have anything to do with the others?

Its deff not campanulatus, there are no teethe like ridges running around the cap.
I dont see any vertical lines running up the stipe,do subs have to have this characteristic? Maybe its another species of active pan.But it doesnt look to be a sub.

Hey there.

These could be two different ( the two on the left and the others), I was trying to fiqure that out. I couldn't tell it the two on the left were just a more mature version of the others. As for being a sub, well...the stem is pretty thin and long and overall it seems to look pretty unsubb like.

Oh, just to clarify, the pictures in this series are titled "camp", but that refers to were I found them, not what I thought they were, sorry if that confused anyone.

As for the others, I didn't eat them. I'm not sure what they are. there not related to these though. The spot they and the others from those posts hasn't flushed again, I'm hoping it will soon, but I really need to get a microscope that works.

I have looked at all of the guides I have. Nothing stands out but Foe's. Those don't look like subbs to me. They definately have a different shape. That incurved margin on the young mushrooms is a little different. Also they look very small. Looks like another Paneolus that I've never been able to identify.
