 How to Get out of Iraq

I'v got a dumbass friend who went through bootcamp, and is soon to be shipped off to Iraq. He dosen't want to go.
Think of some Ideas for him to get out of that situation.
What counts as an Honorable, or Dishonorable discharge. Might this idea create legal reprocussions? What kind of jail time would he be looking at if caught?
a few ideas:
Fake severe mental health issues (that shit would probly fallow him)
Get Gay (Does that even work these days)
Self Injury (It would half to be big enouph to keep him out, yet small enouph not to fuck him up for life)
Get addicted to Opium
Refuse to fight.
(both of which would undoubtedly result in dishonorable discharge/prison time)

yes, your friend signed a legally binding contract, so the Army owns him for a few years. He should tough it out. Besides which, they can tell when someone has deliberately hurt themselves, and he could wind up in big trouble if he goes that route....

Realistically though, I think he's screwed. There's a lot of U.S. soldiers who want to get out of Iraq, and if there was any possible reasonable way to do it that didn't result in a dishonorable discharge, you can be guaranteed many other people would be doing it.

actually one of FOAF was over there and killed over 75 iraqies, and said he couldnt kill anymore his mind just wouldnt let him pull the trigger anymore. their were 3 guys to confirm it (he was in battle and he didnt return fire) so they sent him home

I was in the military and did get deployed to Iraq. A fellow soldier I knew was honorably chaptered out for being gay. He had his roommate find letters to boyfriends and saved gay porn so as not to appear that he just wanted out. This was brought to the attention of the higher ups. They were still going to allow him to deploy but he made a case where if people made fun of him, he might not be so stable of a person.
Another person I knew kind of flipped out in Kuwait before entering Iraq. I don't know the details but I'm sure if your friend appears that he could be a danger to himself or to others, he might be honorably chaptered out.
Another possibility is being unfit to deploy. This can include being high blood pressure or profile. If he lied about an injury that would have prevented him from entering the military, now would be a good time to bring up.
As for your friend, after a month or two in Iraq, he will more than likely won't have very much fear and become use to being in a potentially hostile environment. I can just about promise you that the your friends two greatest complaints about Iraq will be boredom and missing home. Whats he expected to do anyway while deployed? Is he in some office type job or in a combat mos? I would suspect that the most dangerous things that he would probably do are guard duty, and driving outside of base.
As for me Iraq was a very beneficial experience in my life. When I came home I had over 20 grand in the bank. Things were put into perspective. What we experience makes us what we are today. I am very happy with the many concepts that I picked up from the experience of Iraq.
I guess the military didn't brain wash him enough with ideas of duty. They're slipping with their basic training.

hey it's not his fault that he was sold on the military. they make that contract look pretty damn good. with all the so-called benefits and the money for school. like a means to an out. especially if you don't have much in the first place.
i had a friend who decided that he would join the national guard. I know what your thinking the national guard can't be that bad. Well brain washing is brain washing. Anyways he just started to piss his bed and his self all the time. Needless to say he was dis-charged. Of course this was while he was still in boot-camp.
maybe he can move to Canada.

Before I finish reading all these posts I should post my idea before I forget.
I heard once of a fellow who through out his entire tour in "'nam" with an imaginary dog. Everywhere he went he carried a leash in his hand and it was attached to nothing, just drug it around I guess. Finaly after a couple of months he was awarded his disabiblity paper or whatever and was sent home... the part that makes me think this idea is a joke is at the end I was told he turns to his srg. right before stepping onto the plane and hand him the leash saying "Here I dont need my dog anymore."

I can see how some people can't handle it...even though I did.
There is no disgrace in not wanting to go to war.

I have a friend that is in a mental ward of the VA hospital from doing his time in Iraq.
he was shot by an Iraqie...he had a bullet proof vest on.
he killed the Iraqie that shot him!~
he killed several other Iraqies...and was having nightmares of their dead faces in his sleep.

I have a friend that was shot up in the first Gulf War.
he is in a wheel chair for life.

I have another friend that was in the first Gulf War...
that lost his head and went nuts and shot up a couple couches in a military lounge.
he put 2 full clips of ammo in the couches.
when asked why he did it...he said "I thought I'd rather shoot the couches than my comanding officer".
lolzzz
he was released from duty with full pay...and collects $2200.00 a month for the rest of his life.
he is pretty messed up in the head still...and has to be on meds.
