Mold problem...
    #4461333 - 07/27/05 09:15 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I seem to have a serious case of cobweb mold on my cakes. I figured out what was causing it and I fixed it (dirty air pump filter.) Anyways, the mold still remains on some of my cakes. How would I get rid of that? Or am I fucked. I need help!!!!! The cakes have been in my terrarium for almost 2 weeks and I've had no pins from the infected cakes!! Is it because of the mold?

Yes, Mold would stop pinning. Normally they say pitch it and start over. But if you want to try and save i got some ideas i can throw at ya. First try to remove the affected area via sterilized knife or some other sort of sterile sharp object, but do this ASAP! Mold spreads quickly. Not too sure of the survival rate of this method but ive seen a guy post that it has worked.

Next maby try casing the non affected area. This would make up for loss of mycelium, and in my opinion leaves you with more mycelium to try and save. Sterilize your terrarium thoroughly to insure this doesn't happen to you saved mycelium.

Lastly try introducing your non affected mycelium to a new cake. This would maby promote new growth? - just a guess.

Now none of this is a proven tek. Just some ideas. Hope they work and the best of luck to you! Let me know how this works out if you try it.

If the infected cakes are in the same terrarium as the healthy ones, they need to be removed immediately. I would just save yourself some trouble and pitch em. If you've left infected cakes in with healthy ones for too long, they may all be doomed. Just remove them and try to clean things up, hope for the best.

I've heard that weak-ass cobweb mold can sometimes be killed by H2O2 dunking. Worth a try.

I do not grow anything illegal.
I do not sell anything.
I am, however, a very curious individual.
I also try to be helpful.
