Meditation on Ritalin

Would being on ritalin help to increase the learning taught by meditation. Would it allow someone to focus more easily on not thinking?

Ritalin causes people who are inundated by their thoughts to be able to focus beyond them. Their stream of erroneous thinking that keeps them from being able to concentrate and consciously extract information from their environment is supressed. Everyone has this problem of having thoughts interfere with life to varying degrees...its the process identified as ego. Now, while taking ritalin will produce the concentration state, it should be recognized as a crutch. If you want to meditate, simply do so. Taking ritalin to help you meditate (or relying upon mushrooms to seek enlightenment) is the spiritual equivalent of using steroids. I'm not going to make a value judgement on that...just know that you can meditate without ritalin just as well as you can build muscle without steroids.

yup yup, i'd agree, we're talking crutches baby. ritalin is not necessary to learn how to 'meditate'...jeez, meditation is so simple, just ask, and that shit is right there. meditatation is like the cheesey, cliche tip of that mother fucking ice burg...jesus.

Thanx, Iwas just curious because I happen to have some ritalin for ADD. I have been meditating without ritalin and enjoy it lots so far.

yah you don't need anything to meditate. Sometimes when my ADD is particularly strong and I can't focus on anything I find that is the best time to meditate, helps me get in control without taking pills. In fact, I would say that meditation has some of the same effects as ritalin, for me at least, so I don't think you need it.

I didn't mean to give the impression that I found it hard without. I was just wondering if it would be more easily with being on them. Thanx for all the responses.

I can see myself really getting into meditation.
