cake crumblin'

So far I've had good results using ver./brf 1/2 pt. cakes and am planing on experimenting with larger substrates and had a few questions before I proceeded. I have a few fully colonized cakes, and was planing on crumbling, placing into a baking pan, and casing w/ a 50/50 mix of ver./peatmoss. Does the substrate have to rest after being crumbled? Also (and this could be off the wall, but) I was thinking of adding some pre sterilized BRF to the substrate after crumbling! I was wondering if maybe that would create more nutrients for the mycelium network & potentially create larger flushes?!? Any Feedback from experience or opinion would be greatly appreciated!!

This will help with casing PF cakes.. http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23805

Allowing sterilized BRF contact unsterile air will almost certanly contam...It would be better to just add some more fully colonized cakes...

For more casing info.. http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/8

Take care n be safe...

Does it have to rest? Usually people let it, yes. And as for a casing with brf, it depends on what your casing too. If you're casing to poo then theirs going to be a lot more nutrients in poo then brf, and like untralight said, it would probably contam easly.
Take care

Ummm...I think you got spawning and casing mixed up in there...You prolly meant "spawning to poo". He wanted to add sterilized flour to his colonized sub. He's casing with 50/50....

Just dont want him to get confused thats all...

Take care n be safe...
