B+, Mexi-Cubes, and SuperStrain. Cakes coming slow need advice.

I see all of everyone elses' jars colonize pretty quick compared to mine

I currently have 12 jars with three strains. Each strain gets four jars. I inoculated on June 21st to a BRF/Verm mix. I already know that I packed the jars really tight. Too tight. On July 11th I took this picture:

Now today it is the 27th of july and i still have yet to see a cake touch the bottom rim of my jars. I am going to take some of this to agar so I can get lots of mushrooms growing for the winter time but I'd like to know if i could use just the colonized part of the cake to go into a 50/50 peat/verm mix and kill the rest. Also will shaking loose uncolonized cakes around help em out? how about like breakin it up with straight steel sterile skewers? I am new just lookin for some help.

try exposing the needle holes and flipping the jars, it may be an air exchange problem.

cant make it looser. Try flipping the jars as was already said, if you get really impatient you can birth the jars and cut away the uncolonized portions. But this leaves you open to contams, and also the middle of your cake may not have colonized. GL.

So It's okay to birth them early as long as you keep it sterile right?
