wbs question

I plan on soaking my wbs for 24 hour then simmering for 45 min.The qeustion I have is should I use distilled water to soak and simmer them in Or does this matter at this point?My water here seems to have alot of colrain in it.

The teks I've read say just tap water will do.

Tap water works fine. On the "simmer" thing - watch out. To long & seed/grain's burst. To many exploded seed/grains & it causes problems (releases starch, causes clumping & hard to shake), which can also cause wet spot type contamination. A mellow simmer is far better than a hard one.

ok thanks!!!!what do you think is a good amount of time 30-45 mins?watching it closely to make sure that it is not exploded many seeds?
Also i have another qeustion,does anyone soak wbs in the jars there going inoculate with there spores if so is there any extra step for cleaning there jars or just pc them like normal?
