Imagination and God and other PLACES
    #4456485 - 07/26/05 06:47 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

It's important that I find a reasonable response to this question...I've been thinking about it. See, if there is a God, God is everything/everywhere and there is nothing God CAN'T do, then are there are likely other universes/realms/states of existence...

THis is what I think...

?God follows Gods own rules.?

I hear that a lot.

Yet if he can do EVERYTHING

ANYTHING

Then how can we presume to know what God's rules are.

I just can't stop thinking about parallel realms. And I keep wondering how this would relate to God.

I came to realize that God is the seen and unseen, and this would mean God is also imagination.

So if we imagine a world to be there, to exist...maybe it's really THERE?

If God IS imagination.

I just realized that possiblities are really endless to what the truth could be.

God is a game of creativity.

if god is beyond our mental process but we can become connected to god, it would be best connect and not try to keep riddling it through.

from my experiences "on the other side" I would say here we are not equipped to understand more than a fraction of what is real.

We should try - of course,
but we should try to understand the obvious, as opposed to spending time riddling out the occult.
when you have a chance to come face to face with immensity or "ongoing creation", or whatever you want to call god, there will be plenty of exchange of mental energy.
this will not be transportable into this more flat-worldly mind.

very few souvenirs make it back intact

It's pretty clear God is imagination. Look at the undersea creatures. Look at animals. If there's omething the human mind can imagine it's because the roots were here for the mind to leap from.

If God is imagination then I guess fiction is truth and the truth is fiction.  :nut:

If god is everything and anything, that means he is also (simultaneously, or perhaps at will?) nothing.  Furthermore, he is anything any human mind has ever conceived AND everything impossible for humans to conceive.

Far out!  :mushroom2:

It's also kind of weird to think of God in the non-human way. (not that theres ANY non-human way we could think, but still you know what I mean)

Like...aliens in other realms or universes. If God is God then aun is their God too. It's interesting to consider how an alien race might view God. The magnitude of God trips me out. Like...all we know is our human existence, but next life we could be reborn as a Romulan or Harry Potter for all we know.

It's so fucking wild.

That's a good point- I can't think of a religious text that aknowledges the creation of extra-terrestrial life.  Could that be.. because humans made the whole thing up?  :smirk:

Also- humans claim that god created them in his image.  Consider that- if god can be anything, than of course, everything is created in his image.  Not so special NOW, are we?  :tongue2:

I recommend you check out the Divine Command Theory.

The divine command theory is the metaethical theory that moral values are whatever is commanded by a god or gods.

DCT is the first horn of what has come to be known as the Euthyphro dilemma (after its first appearance in Plato's dialogue Euthyphro): ?Is the morally good whatever is commanded by god, or does god command what is in fact morally good??

http://www.chains-of-reason.org/articles/god-and-morality/current.htm
and
http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/theism/moral.html

Start there.

ellemy!!!  Love this question

Living is the dance we play, and there is no certain way!

You can already see in this thread alone that logic alone can't tell everything.

To make you feel that you are REALLY YOU, there must be an "outside" This outside must feel weird, strange; there must be limitation!  By not letting your right hand know what your left hand is doing this outside is created.  we have senses to tell us what is "different" what is strange. The rule is only what you place on yourself

have you ever listened to allan watts?  if not, pm me and I'll hook you up with some short (around 15 min) sections that might get some thinking going.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

"I just can't stop thinking about parallel realms."

Me neither.

You know though, you ARE a walking example of a parallel realm relative to the environment that which you so elaborately observe.

My feelings... God is manmade... the concept that God represents is beyond mankinds imagination (or ability to comprehend).

without chicken and egging ourselves (ourself), would you say that all of on-going creation and existence are manmade?

then, without anthroporphising, let that stand as god itself.

I feel like God is right in front of me at all times.  All around me...though I agree that we can NEVER fully comprehend the magnitude of "GOD."  IMMENSITY BEYOND IMMENSITY!!

I am grateful for even my miniscule human glimpose at what I interpret as God.

You can't even think about it for too long, otherwise your brain will hurt.
