Anno (and others),
Yes they will fruit from cakes. I do not have any pics but I have had it happen twice on accident. I left them in the jars too long and they began fruiting in the jars. I have only let one cake "finish" fruiting , the other was crumbled and used as usual. You will probably succeed. I look forward to seeing the pics.
On a side note.... I had to leave them in the jar to fruit, invetro--if you will, because the cakes tend not to be as solid and sturdy as with cubes, and they fall apart easily when handling.

Theay are fully colonized (for longer time off course) but they wouldn?t pin invitro.

I've had them fruit off of cakes but I could only get like one flush in before contamination set in. Wasn't a very good flush either just a couple of small ones here and there. Maybe one of those flat cake teks would work better, I still think contams would step in though after or during the first flush
