They will prolly still be ok at that temp but dont expect optimal results if your not keepin optimal conditions.
Some ppl try putin frozen bottles in thier fruitin chambers and this is meant to help reduce the temp a few degrees.

my cake seems to be having some discoloration, but is still growing mushrooms, is that bad and is the whole cake bad? and can it ruin a cake next to it?

You could of posted that in your own topic rather than hijackin, but seen as it ya first post we'll let it slide

Pics do more than words, it all depends on what colouration your getin there. It could be just a bit of blue brusin which is fine, or it could be some nice green which means its contamed but we wont know if u cant stick a pic up.

You should create a new thread rather than hijack doublevision's thread with your question.

doublevision the fruits will grow and mature faster. there is a higher risk of contaminations in those temps though, so that is your trade-off.

For whatever other reasons the recommended temps are 74F-78F for fruiting, but check this out:

My a/c went out and it turned 85F-90F for a day and my 3 day old pins matured completely in those 24 hours, and I tripped my nutsack off on them, so don't sweat it.

Thermal death is 106F, anything under that (down to whatever cold temp halts growth) and they will grow, though not optimally, whatever that means in this case. lol

btw I would never eat anything growing on a cake with any contamination on it. describe the color of the discoloration, it could be hazardous!
