Revised Questions (Decision time?)

Hey guys, thanks for all your help so far. You've got me pretty narrowed down on my setup. However, I'm still unsure about what exact methods a want to follow in my first attempt. A major factor influencing my decision is that I live in a dorm. The privacy issue is not as substantial as the fact that I leave the dorm on the weekends quite often. So in whatever method I choose I must be able to be away for 2 days at a time without worring about my crops.
So given this major factor, I've decided I either need to:
A. Follow PF tek and fruit cakes in an perlite terrarium with fish-tank buller for air exchange (allowing me to neglect for a couple days). I've been toying with the idea of casing but think that may be a little too soon in my beginner's expirement (any suggestions/explanations on casing are welcome)
B. Follow PF but use Hippie's neglect (invitro fruiting) with no terrarium. (Could do more jars this way and no maintence.) I respect the shrooms and feel a little bad about them growing all cramped up but circumstances suggest this would be the easiest way.
My goal: To get some shrooms. I'm not looking for a killer batch, potency or otherwise. Just enough to make my time worth while. If I get the hang of it, I'll try again with some different methods. I'm new to all this, and want to see what's really involved. Like I said, you guys have been wonderful so far. Thanks for all your help.

Don't do that neglect tek man. You'll be waiting forever, and you'll end up with a few skinny, colorless shrooms.Anything is better than that tek.

Go with the PF TEK. It will pay off all expense with the first harvest. With only a couple cakes you can skip fanning for a day or two without problems. Only 3 or 4 cakes wont build up CO2 very quickly. And the perlite will keep over 95% humidity no problem if you use a 10 gallon housing.

the hippie tek works, but realize that you'll lose cakes to contamination a lot sooner. Here is a picture of a FOAF's invitro jar. After being dried those buggers were awfully beefy, and surprisingly dense.
