KALISPELL - A man allegedly showed up for a meeting with his probation officer with $18,000 worth of methamphetamine and was arrested Friday after the officer found it during a search of his car.
Frank Hazel, 29, was charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute.
"That's the first time I've ever seen anybody bring drugs with them to the Adult Probation and Parole office when they were on probation," said Kevin Burns, supervisor of the Northwest Drug Task Force.
He said an officer decided to search Hazel's vehicle and reportedly discovered five ounces of methamphetamine under the seat. Another man with Hazel fled, Burns said.
Hazel is awaiting sentencing after being convicted of possession of methamphetamine in Lincoln County.
